SEX EDUCATION

And why it is essential.

building an evidence & fact based sex education program is essential

Growing up, young people face important, and often times, life-altering decisions about relationships, sexuality, and sexual behavior. The decisions they make can impact their well-being and health for the rest of their lives.

Young people have the right to lead healthy lives, and those in positions to so (as well as ourselves) have the responsibility to prepare them by providing comprehensive sexual health education that gives them the necessary tools to make healthy decisions. But it is not enough for programs to include discussions of contraception and abstinence to help young people avoid unintended pregnancy or diseases. Comprehensive sexual health education must also provide young people with honest, age-appropriate information and skills necessary to help them take personal responsibility for their health and overall well being.
